Car-free living is it possible?

The term car-free living can be either a convenience or a hinderance; depending where you live. If you live in the city, where there are plenty of public transportation available, living without a car makes total sense. But if you are living in an area with limited transit availability, having a car is key for daily commute and travel.

In major cities, car-free living is the way to go. There are many benefits of leaving the car at home, or not owning one. This might require some planning on your end to make sure you have access to places you frequently visit such as work, people and places you visit, and more.

The benefits outweigh the risks if you live in a walkable city where there are several transit options such as bus, rail, Uber and taxis. Below are some benefits related to car-free living.

Reduce Your Carbon Footprint

By using public transit, especially for daily travels such as commuting to work, visit places you frequent, you are reducing your carbon footprint considerably; and helping the environment. Other alternative options are riding a bike, or even walking if your destination is within walking distance.

Save Money

Although you need to pay for a bus or train fare, in the long run, you save more money by not having to put gas in your car on a regular basis; and the maintenance costs of a car.

Improve your Health

It is demonstrated that sitting in traffic on a regular basis can increase stress levels, even blood pressure. By going car-free, there are no worries about traffic, especially when using metrorail. Also, it gives that extra time to enjoy some reading while traveling.

Safety

By going car-free and using public transit, there are less chances of being in a transit accident; since public transportation accidents are not as common as car accidents.

Car-free Resources

There are several resources related to car-free living depending on the area that you live. In the Washington DC area, one of the best resources are Car-Free Diet and Car-Free Near Me, which are websites that we have developed at Redmon Group.

Text-to-Speech Benefits

In digital signage, the intention is to display data; such as announcements, schedules, real-time, etc. But also for the sake of accessibility, text-to-speech help cover the bases so every person can access the same information, but in a different way.

E-Paper Displays

Electronic, or e-paper displays are a technology with reflective display. This technology mimics the appearance of ink on paper. However, these displays require very little power, since they reflect light rather than emit it.
