With large apartment complexes conveniently located near metro stations, it makes sense to have a transit display as a sought after amenity. It can help inform residents of public transit available, along with other news and announcements. In addition to any information the property management would like to announce to their residents.
Southern Towers
For example, Southern Towers Apartments in Alexandria VA. This property consists of 5 apartment buildings, they are conveniently located right by I-395; and not too far from one of the metro stations. In addition, this apartment complex serves as a route stop for both DASH and Metro; and it might get confusing considering the different routes at different times.
Back in 2001, there were no transit displays and residents had to rely on memory, or paper based schedules. It was challenging to figure out what bus came next. This made commute a little tricky, especially for new residents commuting. Real-time information was not available back then.
Nowadays, with mobile phones, residents have access to bus schedules right at their fingertips. But having a transit display that shows schedules and real-time information helps everyone. It keeps all this important information available for everyone to access.
Having transit displays available for residents are not limited to apartments and condominiums. Even hotels are adopting the use of transit display. This helps keep their residents, or guests informed on the different transit options available, along with other announcements. This is also convenient to keep residents informed on impending weather, and events nearby.
